Yesterday someone was killed in a street race in Wichita. Down the main street in the middle of downtown

I'm going to chalk this one up to good old Darwin. Looks like an S2000 was involved, no clue what the other car used to be

How does that even happen....

Up here if you get caught doing anything over 25mph downtown you get publicly shamed basically, and people show up in your yards with pitchforks.

I can see on a back road or a side road, or something with very few houses and people to get injured.... but i the middle of downtown....Just dumb.

Racing should be kept to the track, but is there a local track to Wichita?

Yes, there's a drag strip. It's at most 10 miles away from where this wreck occured

What I don't understand is how they pulled off a race downtown without hitting cross traffic. I mean it was late Sunday, so there probably wasn't much traffic but the lights on Douglas are horrible, you definitely can't get a string of greens like you do in normal cities.
